Nos dias 21, 22 e 23 de novembro de 2019, o Laboratório Interdisciplinar de Direitos Humanos e Saúde (LIDHS) organizou em parceria com a Associação Brasileira Interdisciplinar de AIDS (ABIA), o Seminário Internacional “Saúde Global e Direitos Humanos: Perspectivas Críticas sobre Possibilidade e Limites na Construção do Campo”. O seminário teve financiamento do CNPq e foi coordenado pelo Prof. Richard Parker. A atividade reuniu pesquisadores de instituições acadêmicas e de organizações da sociedade civil, nacionais e internacionais, dos campos da saúde global e dos direitos humanos. O objetivo foi construir conexões entres esses campos, no âmbito da pesquisa e práxis de forma crítica a partir de alguns contextos chaves, que foram apresentados pelos palestrantes durante o evento. Também foi aprofundada a reflexão crítica, a compreensão, análise e atuação política nessas temáticas, reunindo trabalhos que expressaram distintas preocupações e aplicações dos referenciais da Saúde Global e Direitos Humanos.

Desta forma, o Seminário Internacional criou um espaço de reflexão e articulação entre diversos institutos nacionais e internacionais universitários (UFRJ, UERJ, USP, UNICAMP, Fiocruz, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, University of Toronto, University of Cape Town e Columbia University) como também da sociedade civil (ABIA – GTPI e Sexuality Policy Watch [SPW] – CEPIA, REBRAPD e DNDI).
Seminar "Global Health and Human Rights"
On November 21, 22 and 23, 2019, the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Human Rights and Health (LIDHS) organized, in partnership with the Brazilian Interdisciplinary AIDS Association (ABIA), the International Seminar “Global Health and Human Rights: Critical Perspectives on Possibility and Limits in the Construction of the Field”. The seminar was funded by CNPq and was coordinated by Prof. Richard Parker. The activity brought together researchers from national and international academic institutions and civil society organizations, in the fields of global health and human rights. It aimed to build connections between these fields, within the scope of research and praxis in a critical way from some key contexts presented by the speakers during the event. Critical reflection, understanding, analysis and political action on these themes were also deepened, bringing together works that expressed different concerns and applications of the Global Health and Human Rights frameworks.
